I photographed T Rex on October 23, 1974 in the Calgary Stampede Corral. He was the headliner in concert opened by Blue Oyster Cult. While T Rex is a great performer, in all honesty I think that the Cult stole the show that night. During the concert he began playing Bang A Gong but he improvised it so far from the original that the audience of 5,000 didn't recognize th song for what it was. When it became obvious he stopped playing and scolded the crowd as if it was there fault. Decades later I still get people from Europe and the U.K asking me if this was the famed concert where he scolded the audience. I haven't seen anything like it since.
